STUDENT MINISTRY

MOVEMENT is the student ministry here at Lifesong Church. It’s a place where teenagers from all over South-Central Massachusetts can connect with each other and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Weekly gatherings allow space for teens to experience real community, powerful worship, creative video, and relevant teaching – besides just being a whole lot of fun!

MOVEMENT is a program and environment for 6th – 12th grade students, that takes place every Wednesday night from 6:30 – 8:30 at the Sutton Campus.

The Mission: Our student ministry exists to influence a generation of young people toward a passionate unyielding desire to be an example to their peers through a dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ. Our heart is to encourage, love and inspire students to live out 1st Timothy 4:12 – “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.”

Ministry Highlights/Youth Experience Our Wednesday night experience features a little bit of everything. Doors open at 6:30 for some social space for students. This is a chance for students to just hang out and enjoy some time hanging with other students and staff. Video games, ping pong, foosball, and basketball are all available for recreation, or they can grab a snack and hang out in the cafe. At 7:00 we kick off our service in the NextGen Auditorium with passionate, high-energy worship where students are encouraged to pursue the heart of God and express their love for Him. We use some of the latest and most popular worship music videos to create a relevant worship environment. Our youth service continues with a small group time that we call CREWS. These CREWS are comprised of students that attend the same local schools that are relatively nearby one another. Each CREW has a staff leader whose role is to help build relationships with the students in that CREW. Our CREW time allows staff to meet new students and stay aware of those who have or have not been around. Depending on the night, CREWS may spend some time discussing a topic that relates to the series or message. The other option, is a crazy, fun, intense CREW battle where CREWS compete with each other for bragging rights. The service wraps up with a message relevant and applicable to student’s lives. Our desire is for students to grow in their understanding and love for the Word of God and Jesus Christ. For students, walking out their faith in day to day life is a challenging and often scary proposition, but we believe that they have what it takes to bring change to their generation.

Events Throughout the year we plan various types of events and trips for students that are highlights on our ministry calendar. Most of our events are for the entire student population – like a snow tubing trip, pool party or movie night, and some are planned just for a specific CREW, by the CREW leader. We also plan some much larger events like weekend youth conferences, retreats, and camps that allow students to get away from their daily environment and experience something new. One of our biggest events of the year is a summer missions trip for High School students to a foreign country to serve, love and share the gospel. No matter what or where the event may be, we strive to make MOVEMENT events memorable, impacting and an absolute blast! These events are communicated and updated via the Lifesong website calendar, in our Sunday morning worship guide and on the MOVEMENT facebook page.

Small Groups There are three Small Group semesters throughout the year at Lifesong, and MOVEMENT offers Small Groups for students during those semesters. These Small Group environments focus on discipleship and relationship building, and it’s a smaller group of students compared to a Wednesday night experience. This type of environment is especially helpful to students who are new to a relationship with Christ, or are just not as comfortable in larger settings. Details and descriptions for these Small Groups are available in Lifesong’s the Glance magazine or Infellowship – the church’s community portal.

Let’s Meet! Are you new to Lifesong? We love the chance to meet new families and their teenagers. We understand it’s not easy showing up to an event or service for the first time, especially if you don’t know anyone to start with. So, let us know if you are interested in coming and we can set up a time for you to meet with Pastor Phil Rainbow, and even a few of the MOVEMENT staff and students at church on a Sunday morning or before a Wednesday night. E-mail us today or call 508.921.4767 x305 to speak with Pastor Phil. Stay Informed Get regular updates on events, and stay informed by following MOVEMENT on Facebook.
