Face to Face | Hunger Pangs Wk 3 | Pastor David Payne

In Face to Face, Pastor David calls believers beyond information about God and into transformational encounters with God. As we conclude our 21-days of prayer and fasting, the focus shifts from religious routine to a lifestyle of pursuing God’s presence. Through vivid storytelling and biblical teaching, this message challenges us not to settle for knowing facts about God when He is inviting us into life-changing, personal encounters.

Anchored in John 9, we see a man born blind who experiences a miraculous healing through Jesus. While religious leaders argue theology and motives, the healed man stands firm in his testimony: “One thing I do know—I was blind, but now I see.” His encounter silences every argument. This moment reinforces the Big Idea of the message: a person with an encounter is never at the mercy of a person with an argument.

The message then moves to Genesis 32, where Jacob wrestles with God and refuses to let go without a blessing. Jacob leaves the encounter with a changed walk, renewed joy, and a transformed identity. These encounters don’t remove struggle—but they redefine how we walk through it. Drawing from Isaiah, Psalms, Corinthians, and the words of Paul, the sermon reminds us that God is not merely observable—He is encounterable. When we meet Him face to face, our strength is renewed, our joy transcends circumstances, and our identity is reshaped to carry life wherever we go.
