Happiness is a circumstantial outcome. Joy is a Christ-anchored one. Happiness is chance-based. Joy is choice-based — and Paul, writing from prison, models what that choice looks like: reframing focus away from the distraction of what happened, searching out the new opportunities that show up in hard seasons, and giving your best to what actually matters, regardless of who gets the credit.
The message lands on Philippians 1:21 — “to live is Christ, to die is gain” — and Revelation 12:11, a reminder that we overcome not by controlling our circumstances, but by anchoring ourselves in Christ and the testimony of what He’s done.
Regardless of what today looks like, joy is still available. It’s a choice.
